Sunshine and scattered showers
Widespread heavy bursts in north Wednesday

Wednesday
Low pressure rotates slowly eastwards into the North Sea. Zones of heavy rain will continue for many hours in northern and central parts of England, whilst organised belts of thundery showers will develop widely through the day across most of northern Britain. Southern England & Wales, plus much of Ireland may well escape with just occasional showers and lengthy dry spells with some sunshine. Highs 17 to 23C.

Wednesday night
A scattering of residual showers will affect northern Britain, but many places will become dry into the night. A fresh north to northwest breeze continues around eastern coasts. Clear spells in west and southwestern areas, with temperatures dipping below 10C in some sheltered rural locations. Local mist patches forming in valleys. Typical lows 11 to 14C in central-eastern England.

Thursday
Pressure builds slowly, with sunny spells for many. However, a trough of low pressure remains nearby, bringing scope for some showery outbreaks through the afternoon, these quite hit and miss, but may form into a band from central-southern Scotland, along the spine of the Pennines and locally into the Midlands & eastern England. Some of these may be thundery. Largely dry with sunshine for Wales and the southwest. Highs 18 to 24C.

Friday
Slack high pressure is expected to reside across the British Isles. Many places will be dry with sunny spells. A few showers popping up into the afternoon, these hit and miss, perhaps focused across western hills. Light winds and coastal breezes. Temperatures reaching 22 to 24C in central-western areas, locally a touch higher in favoured spots. Nearer 17C on eastern coasts with a breeze off the sea.
