Best sun in south

Friday
A brighter day for most on Friday. Low pressure to the east will be bringing a northwest wind with a mix of sunshine and showers. Most of the showers will be in northern and eastern areas. The showers may merge to longer spells of rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Fewer showers along southern coasts of England as well as the south coast of Wales and southern Ireland. Temperatures at 11 to 16C.

Friday Night
Showers tonight in much of northern England and Scotland. The showers could be heavy at times and there is a risk of some hail or thundery in Scotland and northeast England. A few showers around northern and western Wales and the north and west of Ireland. Drier for other places with clear spells. Lows near 2C under the clearer skies, bringing a slight ground frost, nearer 5C in the cloudier areas.

Saturday
A northwesterly flow on Saturday as low pressure drifts into the North Sea. There will be showers over Scotland and eastern parts of England. Elsewhere it should be drier and brighter with sunny spells, and feeling cool in the breeze. Increased cloud in the far southwest of England bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain here. Highs around 11 to 16C.

Sunday
Low pressure remains to the east of the UK on Sunday. The northwest win brings sunny spells and showers, most to the north and east. More persistent rain is likely over Scotland and perhaps into Northern Ireland too. Drier in Wales and southern coasts of England. Highs at 12 to 17C.
