UK Forecast - January 18, 2023
Staying cold
Largely dry & bright

Thursday
Most places will be dry with sunny spells and fairly light northwesterly winds as pressure builds a little from the west. Snow showers again moving inland for northern Scotland, falling heavy for a time. A few light showers with snow flurries affecting coastal areas in west and north Wales, one or two for Cheshire too. Possibly some rain for Cornwall for a time where it will be milder. Breezier near to eastern coasts, feeling very chilly again. Highs 2 to 5C, locally 7C southwest.

Thursday night
A few snow flurries on to northern and western Scotland. Dry with clear skies for most others. Turning cloudier across far western areas as the night progresses. Lows at 0 to -4C.

Friday
Fairly high pressure over Britain leads to mainly dry conditions. Mostly light winds allowing for some mist and fog to develop. Otherwise a bright day with plenty of sunshine. Fronts located to the west bring cloud and rain to Ireland, fringing into west and southwestern England and Wales, perhaps becoming generally damp here but slightly milder. Possible sleet or snow on the leading edge of this in the hills. A frosty start leading to a cool day for most. Highs 3 to 8C, mildest toward the southwest.

Saturday
A slack pressure pattern is due to exist with winds remaining light for much of the country. A lot of cloud, some fog patches, local areas of sunshine. Stronger south to southwesterly winds for Northern Ireland and Scotland bring milder conditions here, plus drizzly rain. Drier for eastern Scotland. Highs 4 to 10C, mildest in west, coolest in central and southeastern areas if it stays murky.
