Sleet and snow, most of it fairly light across central and southern Scotland and Ireland this morning. The area of sleet and snow moving into Northwest England and North Wales by this afternoon and then edging slowly southwards. Accumulations of snow are only likely to be small. Cold air arrives into Northern Ireland and Scotland with some heavy snow showers affecting northern Scotland. Drier for England and Wales with some bright or sunny spells, although snow flurries into the Midlands by this evening. Highs at a cold 1 to 3C.

Thursday Night
An area of snow will be moving south eastwards into the Midlands, Wales and East Anglia overnight. This may bring limited accumulations of snow even at low levels. Tending to be drier across southern England until morning. Further snow showers affecting northern Scotland, these then transferring to eastern Scotland and to North East England and perhaps becoming heavier. Lows at 0 to -3C but -8C in central Scotland.

Friday
An area of snow showers affects eastern Scotland and drifts into North East England on Friday. They will be broken cloud for many areas with some sleet or snow flurries here and there. The highest risk of these is through the Midlands and Wales. Central and western Scotland as well as match of Ireland should be dry and bright but remaining cold. Some showers affects eastern parts of Ireland where it will also be breezy. Highs at 1 to 3C.

Saturday
Another cold day with a reach of high pressure over the UK and Ireland. It should be mostly dry with some bright or sunny spells for much of England, Wales, Ireland and eastern Scotland. Thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain and sleet affects northern and Northwest Scotland with snow on hills. Little changes into the afternoon with the best of the bright or sunny spells in the east. High temperatures at 2 to 5C.
