Severe gales & rain
A windy, wet night

Thursday
Wind and rain through Ireland this morning, severe gales driving the rain into west Wales and southwest England. Drier in Scotland, eastern and southern England. Rain spreads through the rest of the country in the afternoon. This could be heavy in much of Ireland,northern England and west Wales as well as southern England. A few showers in northern Scotland. Turning more showery in central England. Southern England will be brighter and windy with some showers and sunny spells. Highs at 9C in northern Scotland, 13C in southern England.


Thursday Night
Low pressure brings a windy and unsettled night. Frequent, heavy showers will affect many areas with a risk of hail and thunder. Rain may be more persistent in Wales and northern England as well as eastern Scotland. Fewer showers in western Scotland and in away from the coasts of southeast England. Lows at 5 to 8C.
 


Friday
A deep area of low pressure is centred over the British Isles on Friday. Heavy showers and longer periods of rain with a risk of hail and thunder, especially over England and Wales. Further rain in eastern Scotland, and again this could be heavy. Western Scotland should see fewer showers and some sunny spells. Fewer showers in much of central and northern Ireland. Strong winds in southern England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Highs at 8 to 13C.


Saturday
Low pressure to the east of the UK on Saturday. A northwest flow brings brighter conditions with sunny spells and scattered showers, most over windward facing coasts and hills. Heaviest of the showers are likely to be in the far south and southeast of England. Some showers in Ireland, although sunny spells too. Highs at 9 to 14C.
