Fronts passing east through the country during today. These bring cloud and rain, some of it heavy in Scotland where there will be some sleet on hills. Heavier periods of rain too in southern England and south Wales. Patchier rain further north. Breezy too, gales in the south and western Scotland. Rain clears southern and eastern England during this afternoon with brighter weather then following through all areas bringing some sunny spells too. A few showers over western coasts. Staying cloudy and west in western Scotland and northwest Ireland with gales here. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 11C in southern England.


Thursday Night
Windy overnight across most areas with gales in places, severe in the north and west. Periods of rain through Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland, most of the rain in the west. Some sleet over the hills of Scotland and northern England. Drier in the Midlands and eastern England, although some showers in the wes. Lows at 3 to 5C.
 


Friday
Low pressure in the North Sea on Friday as a ridge of high pressure builds into Ireland and western parts of the UK. Showers in the north and east. Further showers affecting western coasts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Becoming drier in other areas with some bright or sunny spells. A windy morning with gales across central nd eastern areas, although these winds easing later. Highs at 5 to 9C.


Saturday
Another area of low pressure crosses from west to east through the British Isles on Saturday. Periods of heavy rain follows the low pressure with drier weather then following from the west, although some heavy showers over western areas. The afternoon is likely to be brighter, although some showers in the west. Rain may affect eastern Scotland. A breezy day. Highs at 5 to 8C, turning cooler later.
