Rain & showers
Blustery winds

Monday
Low pressure tracks from west to east across Scotland on Monday. This brings a brisk westerly flow to much of the UK and Ireland. Outbreaks of rain affect western and northern parts of Scotland, Wales and northwest England. Elsewhere showers affect Northern Ireland and Ireland as well as central and southern parts of England. Showers tend to fade towards the east. A transient ridge of high pressure builds to the southwest throughout the day allowing for a largely dry evening with clear skies over eastern areas. Breezy for a time for most but winds slacken off through the day. Highs at 10 to 13C for most, just 8 or 9C over northern Scotland.

Monday night
Cloud builds from the west overnight with only far eastern coasts of England and Scotland holding onto clear skies until morning. Rain follows behind the cloud spreading across Ireland, Northern Ireland, much of Wales and southwest England by morning. Winds pick up from the southwest again too. Overnight lows at 4 to 7C for most, a few degrees cooler than this in more rural spots where a touch of frost may form.

Tuesday
A wet and windy start on Tuesday for western areas although dry across more central and eastern areas. Rain spreads from west to east across the country through the day. Rain looks to be heavy and persistent across parts of Scotland. Rain clears from Ireland through the morning and from much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland through the afternoon with brighter conditions following here though with frequent, blustery showers over western coasts and hills. Winds in the west of Ireland strengthening to gale force later on. High temperatures range from 8 to 14C.

Wednesday
Low pressure circulates just to the west of Scotland on Wednesday bringing a brisk westerly flow to much of the UK and Ireland. Expect showers across mainly western areas, at times merging into longer spells of rain here. Some of these showers are likely to push eastwards on that blustery wind. Far southern and southeastern parts of England could also see more persistent rain as a front is slow to clear. Drier and brighter generally further east. Highs at 8 to 13C.
