UK Forecast - December 22, 2018
Mild
Turning settled from Tuesday

Sunday
A trough of low pressure extends from west to east across the centre of the country on Sunday with higher pressure to the north and south. This will lead to a cloudy day for most away from the far north of Scotland where it will be mostly bright. A broad area of heavy rain will affect Northern Ireland and northern portions of England through the morning while further south the rain will remain light and rather drizzly. The rain will move eastward through the afternoon leaving a dry evening for most. Winds will be light overall but locally strong around Irish Sea coasts and along the south coast of England. Highs of 5 or 6C for Scotland and northern England, 7C for Northern Ireland, 11 to 13C everywhere else.

Sunday Night
High pressure reasserts its dominance through Sunday night pushing any lingering showers to the south coast of England. It will remain cloudy over the southern half of the country while for the north skies will be mostly clear. Staying breezy along the English Channel coast. Under the clear skies temperatures will drop to -1 to 1C while under the cloud it will feel milder with lows of 3 to 5C across central England and Ireland, 7 to 12C in the south and southwest.

Christmas Eve
High pressure remains dominant through Christmas Eve bringing clear skies and a fine day for many central areas though there will be some cloud around in the northeast and southwest. Any lingering showers in the south will becoming increasingly confined to the southwest as the day progresses. Winds will be light for all. High temperatures will range from 4 to 6C for Scotland and northern England, 5 to 7C for Northern Ireland and central England and 7 to 12C for Wales and southern England.

Christmas Day
High pressure centred to the south-east of Britain promotes a fairly mild south to southwesterly airflow across the country. It will be a generally dry day but with a lot of cloud. Early mist and fog is possible. The best of any sunny spells will be in the north-east. A little drizzly rain may move into western fringes of Ireland and western Scotland later. Temperatures 4 to 6C for Scotland and northern and central England, 9 to 10C for Northern Ireland and 7 to 12C for Wales and southern England.
