Tuesday
Periods of rain spreading through much of central and northern England this morning. The rain is going to be affecting western coasts and hills throughout, with low cloud on southern and western coasts and hills too. More eastern areas should be drier, although rather cloudy, and rain probably fades from northeast England this afternoon. Southern England, east of the Isle of Wight tends to stay drier overall, although some low cloud and drizzle can't be ruled out on the coast. Staying damp over western coasts and hills with further low cloud, drizzle and rain. Brighter in western Ireland, a few showers here. Highs at 20C in any brightness in southeast England, 14 to 17C for most other areas.

Tuesday Night
More cloud and outbreaks of rain in much of England and Wales tonight. Windy in more southern areas. Cloud and showery rain affecting western Scotland and northwest England as well as western Wales. A drier start in northeast England, but showers arriving here later. Clearer spells in Ireland at first too, before showers arrive here. Lows at a mild 8 to 11C.
 

Wednesday
Wednesday sees low pressure pass east of the UK. This brings some showers to southern areas, although it should be brighter. Staying rather cloudy through Wales and much of Ireland as well as northern England where there will be periods of rain. Showers into the north and west of Scotland, but the showers then turning to more persistent rain in Orkney and Shetland as well as the far north of Scotland later. Highs at 17C in southern England, but turning colder in the north at 10C.

Thursday
The flow turns northwesterly on Thursday as a ridge of high pressure builds into western Ireland bringing much colder weather for all. There will be rain and shower affecting central and southern England and Wales in the morning, this probably clearing south and east in the afternoon. Brighter for northern England, Scotland and Ireland. Showers in northern and eastern areas of Scotland and England, the showers wintry on the highest hills. Brighter and drier for Ireland. Highs at 8C in northern Scotland, 12C in southern England.
