Early fog, cloudy west
Few bright spells

Christmas Day
The risk of some morning fog across eastern parts of England and Scotland. The fog is likely to be most dense in northeast England, the eastern Midlands, East Anglia and southeast England. Further west there will be more cloud and some low cloud and drizzle on western coasts and hills. This afternoon stays rather cloudy with some drizzle and fog pn western coasts and hills. Eastern areas and central parts will be brighter and drier with the fog and mist lifting and cloud breaking. Highs at 4 to 11C.

Christmas Day Night
There could be some dense fog patches reforming in eastern and central England this evening and overnight. To the west the cloud could be thicker and it is here where there could be some drizzle on the coasts and hills again. Lows at 2C in the east, 7C in the cloudier west.

Boxing Day
Fog again on Boxing day morning in central and eastern parts as high pressure settled over the southeast. More cloud to the north and west with some drizzle on western coasts and hills. A few bright spells in the afternoon to the lee of higher ground, but for most of us it will be rather cloudy. Drizzle in southern Ireland but drier in Northern Ireland. Highs at 4 to 8C.

Thursday
A ridge of high pressure extends across the British Isles maintaining a mild southwesterly flow. It will be another rather grey and dull day with a risk of mist and fog for many areas. Again, this could persist through the day. Some drizzle or light rain could persist for western coasts of Scotland and Wales. The best chance of any brightness will be in the northeast of England. Light winds again for most. Highs at 7 to 9C.
