A sunny and colder morning in much of Sotland, northern and eastern England, just a few showers in the far northeast of Scotland. The rain turns lighter this afternoon in Ireland with low cloud and mist. Further drizzle with low cloud, mist and fog over southwest Wales and southwest England. Sunny and dry in the north and east, staying chilly here. Highs at 5C in central and eastern areas, but milder air flowing from the west with tops at 11C in southern Ireland and southwest England.

Wet tonight through almost all parts of the country. The rain could be heavy at times across northern and eastern areas with sleet and snow over high ground. There could be some sleet and snow at low levels in eastern England and eastern Scotland too for a time. Drier across much of Ireland and western Scotland as well as the far southwest of England. Lows near 0C in the east, 7C in southwest.

Thursday is going to be cloudy and wet in the morning, the rain heavy in Northern Ireland, northern and eastern England as well as central and eastern parts of Scotland. There is a risk of sleet and some snow in eastern parts of England, mostly over high ground. Turning drier in the west. Some bright or sunny spells are likely to be developing over Ireland and western parts of Scotland. Windy for a time in England and Wales. Highs at 3 or 4C in the east, 8 or 9C in Wales, southwest England and Ireland.

A weak ridge of higher pressure builds over the UK and Ireland on Friday. It is likely to be a chilly day for most. There will be some bright or sunny spells developing in the east, especially in the afternoon. Always tending to be cloudier in the west. The coud thickening in the west in the afternoon with some rain passing into Ireland in the afternoon, then the west of Scotland by the evening. Highs at 4 to 8C.
