Wednesday
A cloudy and damp day ahead through much of central, eastern and southern England. There will be outbreaks of rain on and off throughout the day. Rather misty too. A murky start in eastern Wales, but the rain fading to leave brighter spells and drier weather, although the risk of more cloud again in the afternoon. Mostly dry in northwest England and Scotland as well as most of Ireland. A few showers over hills with the best of any brightness in the far northwest of Scotland. Highs at 19C in the southeast, more generally 12 to 16C.

Wednesday Night
Rain and showers in central and eastern areas tonight. A further area of rain across the far south of Ireland, this pushing into Wales and southwest England later. Southern coasts of England will also see some showers. Drier in northern England and much of Scotland. A touch of ground frost in central Scotland, lows around 3 to 6C under the clearer skies. Milder in southern and southeast England with lows near 7 to 9C.

Thursday
An area of low pressure will be drifting across Ireland and the south of the UK on Thursday. This is going to be bringing heavy showers and longer spells of rain. The rain probably most persistent in southern Ireland, Wales and northern England. This rain then drifts into the Midlands during the afternoon. Some brighter spells in east Anglia and southeast England. Cloudier in northern and eastern Scotland, a few bright spells here. brighter in wester Scotland and the north and west of Ireland. Tops at 10 to 16C.

Friday
Low pressure is in the North Sea on Friday with the winds becoming a brisk north to northwesterly, strongest in the east. Showers ease over Ireland and western parts of the UK early on to leave a dry and mostly fine day here. Staying cloudier to the east with showers affecting eastern coasts and the risk of some more persistent rain in east Alia and the far southeast. Strong winds, possibly gales, affect eastern parts of England too. High temperatures at a chilly 10 to 14C
