UK Forecast - December 28, 2020
Cold
Rain, sleet and snow

Tuesday
Another cold day with low pressure to the east of the UK and a general northerly wind, rather brisk towards western coasts. This brings with it outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow to northern and eastern areas of Scotland. Showers, some wintry, over parts of Wales, the West Midlands and southwest England. Further showers for eastern coasts of England, again, some likely to be wintry. Risk of more persistent snow developing for eastern Scotland and northeast England later. Largely dry with sunshine elsewhere. Highs 1 to 6C.

Tuesday night
Coastal wintry showers around Scotland, eastern England, western Wales and southwest England overnight from Tuesday into Wednesday while an area of more persistent rain and sleet moves into the far west of Ireland. Staying dry elsewhere with the best of any clear skies over western parts of England and Scotland as well as east Wales. A widespread frost is expected to form along with ice patches as overnight lows generally range from -2 to 1C for most, falling much colder in rural parts of Scotland.

Wednesday
Cold northerly winds continue into Wednesday. Further areas of snow focused toward the northwest. Showers, some wintry, running down some eastern English coasts and into East Anglia too first thing. A weak area of low pressure is expected to develop bringing outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow to Northern Ireland, Ireland, Wales and much of England away from the north. Brighter conditions and wintry showers follow this. Highs at just 1 to 5C.

New Year's Eve
Hogmanay remains cold. Again sleet and snow in the far north and for coastal areas. There could also be some rain, sleet and snow across northeast England, Yorkshire, the East Midlands, East Anglia and the southeast of England later on. Sunshine and frosty conditions for many inland areas. Highs range from 0 to 4C.
