A cold and frosty morning with some mist and fog patches, most in central and eastern areas. Thicker cloud, mist and drizzle in western Wales and southwest England as well as Ireland. Increasingly misty and murky in western parts of England, Wales and Scotland as well as eastern Ireland, turning drier in western Ireland. Central and eastern parts of England and Scotland should be drier in the afternoon with bright or sunny spells here. Temperatures at a cold 4 to 6C for most, 12C in the far southwest.

Tuesday Night
A misty, murky night, especially in the west. Breezy in the west where there will be some drizzle and rain, this potentially heavy in southwest England, Northern Ireland and southwest England. Staying drier in eastern areas with lots of cloud here but rather misty. Hill fog and drizzle affecting southern coasts of England too. Lows at -2C in central Scotland, more generally 3 to 6C.

Wednesday
Low pressure to the west of Ireland, higher pressure to the east. A southeast flow affects all areas. There will be periods of rain and drizzle in the west of the UK and Ireland, and it will be misty too. Generally drier in central and eastern areas but there could again be some mist and murky here. Brighter spells probably in rather short supply. Windy in the west. Highs at 5 to 7C in the east, 12C in the southwest.

Thursday
Low pressure over southern Ireland with fronts passing eastwards and northwards through the UK and Ireland. There will be bands of rain associated with the fronts, most of this rain turning lighter as it heads east. Showers and some sunny spells following to the west. These showers could merge to longer spells of rain in Ireland, west Wales and southwest England. Breezy with highs at 9 to 12C for many, but cooler in Scotland at 6 to 8C.
