Breezy with a band of cloud and rain cross northern England, Wales and southwest England this morning. The rain reaches the Midlands and southern England before crossing into southeast England this afternoon. Brighter weather follows to the north and west with sunny spells, and it turns colder. The colder air pushes southwards through Scotland and Ireland as heavy showers move onto coasts and hills. The showers turning to snow which may give a covering of snow in Scotland. Highs at 4C in northern Scotland, 11C in southeast England.

Wednesday Night
A breezy and chilly night with a significant wind chill. Scattered snow showers around northern and western coasts and hills. Drier in the east and south, although an isolated shower can't be ruled out. Lows around -1C in central Scotland, more typically 1 to 4C.
 

Thursday
A cold, bright and breezy morning on Thursday. A ridge of high pressure builds to the west with the northwest wind bringing some sleet and snow showers over northern and western Scotland as well as the north of Wales. Dry and bright elsewhere with lots of sunshine, although wintry showers may affect parts of the western Midlands. Cloud increases in the west during the day as the winds ease. Drizzle and patchy rain in western Ireland later. Highs at 2 to 5C for most, 7C on western coasts and hills.

Friday
Low pressure drifts into Ireland on Friday. This pushes rain eastwards through much of western England and Wales. As the rain reaches the colder air over England and Scotland and turns it to snow over the Pennines and southern Scotland. Showers and some bright spells following into Ireland and western parts of Wales and England. Further outbreaks of sleet and snow in southern Scotland, drier and cold in central and northern Scotland. Highs at a cold 2 to 5C for most, 7C in Ireland and Wales, 10C in southwest England.
