A windy and cold morning for much of northern England and Scotland with a risk of gales here. There will be heavy periods of snow across much of central, northern and eastern Scotland with blizzards on the hills. A further area of rain, sleet and snow in northern England and some wintry showers in Northern Ireland. Quieter for much of England, Wales and the rest of Ireland. More gales in northern and eastern Scotland this afternoon with further snow in northern Scotland. Drier elsewhere with some sunny spells. There could be some rain affecting the far south coast, east of the Isle of Wight. Highs at 3 to 6C.

Thursday Night
A windy night across eastern Scotland. Snow in these areas with blizzards over the Highlands. Some snow showers throughout the night in western Scotland, drier in the south. Scattered snow showers over western coasts of Ireland too. Elsewhere skies will become clearer and it will be dry. A widespread frost with lows of 1 to -3C overall.
 

Friday
A chilly day on Friday with the winds being lighter for most. There will be snow showers affecting northern and western Scotland as well as much of northern and western Ireland. A further area of wintry showers will pass through the Isle of Man and into northwest England and north Wales through the afternoon. A few showers in the far southwest of England. For other areas it will be brighter and dry with sunny spells. Temperatures at 3 to 7C.

Saturday
Low pressure stays north of Scotland for Saturday. A severe morning frost in central and eastern Scotland and northern England. Snow showers may affect northern and northwestern areas of Scotland. Scattered snow showers affecting the west and northern of Ireland as well as coasts of west Wales and western Cornwall. Elsewhere it should be dry and chilly with plenty of sunshine. Highs at 3 to 5C.
