Tuesday
A cold and windy day across all parts of the UK and Ireland. There will be heavy and thundery showers, most in the north and west where they will be frequent. The showers falling as sleet, snow and hail and some may merge into more persistent spells of sleet and snow at times. Eastern, central and southern areas are likely to see fewer showers with some lengthy drier spells and some good periods of sunshine too. A significant wind chill with gales in the north and west and highs at 0C in northern Scotland, 5C in southeast England and 2 to 4C for most.

Tuesday Night
Staying cold and windy for all tonight. There will be further sleet and snow showers in the north and west with eastern and southern areas being dry with clearer periods here. Further snow accumulations could occur where the snow showers affect the north and west. Feeling especially cold in the strong west wind which will be to gale force in the west. Lows at -1 to 2C.
 

Wednesday
A strong west to northwest flow through the country on Wednesday with low pressure north of the country. It is going to be cold again with snow showers affecting many western areas. The east is going to be brighter and drier with good spells of sunshine. Cloud increases later in the day in Ireland with rain arriving by mid to late afternoon, this becoming heavy. The winds increasing to gale or severe gale force in Ireland as the rain arrives. Highs at 2 to 5C.

Thursday
Severe gales with gusts of 70mph crossing the UK and Ireland overnight, the area of low pressure that is responsible also takes heavy periods of rain eastwards with it. Blizzards over central and northern Scotland. Sunshine and showers rush in from the west on Thursday morning, the showers mostly in the north and west. Colder air drains in too, turning the showers to sleet and snow. Drier in the east and south with sunny spells and feeling colder through the day. Highs at 2 to 8C but these temperatures slipping as the day progresses.
