A fair start to the day across many areas, an early frost too. Cloud increasing in the north and west. Rain into western Scotland and western Ireland, the winds increasing here as well. During this afternoon rain may become heavier in western Scotland and western Ireland with a risk of gales. Staying dry for much of England and Wales, best of the sunshine to the southeast. Highs at 7 to 10C.


Tuesday Night
An are of rain passing through Scotland and Ireland tonight. The rain band becomes lighter and more patchy as it heads south into southern Ireland,northern England and western Wales. Some hills and coastal fog here too. Staying dry in central and southern England, cloud increasing. Turing cooler in northern and western Scotland with some showers over western coasts. Lows at 2C in southeast England and central Scotland, 5 to 7C for most areas.


Wednesday
A front lying through southern Ireland, Wales and into the Midlands and northern England on Wednesday. The rain could be heavy in places. Southern areas are likely to be drier, although some drizzle and patchy rain over western parts of Cornwall and Devon. Cooler in Northern Ireland and Scotland, with some wintry showers in northern and western Scotland where it will be windier too. Highs at 14C in southeast England, 5 to 7C through Wales and the Midlands northwards.


Thursday
The front could affect the far south of England on Thursday bringing further periods of rain here. Again from the Midlands northwards it is going to be cold with a scattering of wintry showers. Most of the showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Temperatures at 10C in the far south of England, 5 to 7C for most other areas.
