Tuesday night
Clearing skies into the evening will allow temperatures to fall low enough for a touch of frost across central and eastern England, staying dry here. Cloud thickens again from the west ahead of extensive rain moving in quickly and soon setting in heavily across Ireland, then Wales and southwest England. Dry through the night for most of Scotland. Lows -2 to +2C, but lifting back above 5C in southwest overnight.

Wednesday
Heavy rain sweeps quickly eastwards across England and Wales, followed by clusters of showers with heavy bursts of rain, hail and thunder across western areas. Rain also affects south and central Scotland, snow over the mountains, but northern Scotland will be drier. Showery too for Ireland, but early rain clears from the north. Brisk south to southwesterly winds. Highs 7 to 12C, mildest southeast.

Thursday
