Wintry showers in east
Sunny & cold for most

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 24th December 2020
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cold for all, wintry showers in the east, plenty of sunshine

A much colder day ahead across many parts of the country. There will be cloud and some residual sleet and rain in southeastern England at first. This is going to be clearing. Most other areas will be brighter and colder with lengthy spells of sunshine. A few wintry showers along eastern coasts of England and Scotland where the strong northerly wind will make it feel particularly cold.

Further snow showers in northern Scotland and in west Wales and the coasts of Cornwall. Ireland should be mostly dry and cold. Good spells of sunshine. Some wintry showers in the north and west.

Tonight sees scattered snow showers over eastern coasts of England. For most it will be a clear and frosty night, perfect for spotting any reindeer in the sky!
