Wintry showers in west

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 28th January 2020
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Icy patches

Good morning,

A cold westerly wind affects the British Isles, bringing showers. These heavy and wintry, with snow, hail and isolated thunder - focused on western areas.

Some brief accumulations of snow to low levels in western Scotland and northwest England, also west Wales and the moors in southwest England. Risk of ice on untreated surfaces.

Only a scattering of showers for central areas, and staying generally dry with sunny spells in eastern regions.

Today's top temperatures ranging from 3 to 5C in the north and west, up to 7C in the south and east, but feeling colder in a brisk wind.

Have a great day.
Garry
