A dry and bright day for most places with high pressure centred to the south-west. Plenty of sunshine but feeling fresh. Showery for western Scotland, with hail or snow over the higher mountain tops. Local showers are possible around Irish Sea coasts, but these will fade. A cool breeze, westerly in Scotland, north or northwesterly for southern Britain. Early fog patches clearing. Top temperatures 16C in southern England, 13 or 14C for most, but just 10C western Scotland.

Monday night
Generally dry with clear skies overnight. Local showers continue in north-west Scotland. Light winds in central and southern Britain, allowing some fog patches to form in low-lying areas, these lingering post-dawn on Tuesday. A southerly breeze will freshen for Ireland and western coasts of Britain. Chilly, with a touch of frost in rural areas, dipping close to freezing locally. Typical lows 3 to 6C, or nearer 8 to 10C in urban areas in the south-east.

Tuesday
High pressure centred over south-east England brings a fair day to much of the country. Plenty of sunshine for England & Wales, some fair-weather cloud. High cloud will thicken across Ireland and Scotland, perhaps later north-west England, as fronts edge in from the Atlantic. A freshening southerly breeze, and rain pushes into western Scotland later, which may also graze Northern Ireland. Light winds in south. Temperatures 11 to 14C north, 15 to 18C south, warmest south-east.

Wednesday
High pressure lies to the south. A dry and warm day for the Midlands and the south, with best sunshine toward the east. Cloudy in the west & north, with fronts trailing across Scotland bringing some rain. Wettest for the West Highlands. Patchy rain for Northern Ireland, perhaps Cumbria, but amounts small. A brisk westerly breeze for northern regions. Lighter winds south. Highs 10 to 14C north, 18 to 22C south.
