Drier to the south

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 25th May 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Rain spreading east from Northern Ireland across Scotland and northern England through the afternoon. Drier and brighter in the south though some showers could develop in the southeast later.

Good morning,

Some broken cloud around first thing across the island of Ireland and into Scotland with light patchy rain affect the far northwest. A brighter and dry start for England and Wales. Through the morning rain will spread across Northern Ireland and into western Scotland and cloud will build south into the north of England.

Through the afternoon rain will spread east affecting much of Scotland with some heavy bursts in the west. Light rain or drizzle will reach into northern parts of England too. Rain should ease for Northern Ireland but it will remain rather cloudy with some showers for Ireland. Cloud will build southwards across central England and Wales while southern and southeastern England could see showers develop through the afternoon. High temperatures widely reaching 15 to 19C. Cooler in the north of Scotland at just 9 to 10C; warmer in the southeast of England at 20 to 22C.

Rain continuing across much of Scotland and northern England into Saturday evening while showers will edge into western parts of Ireland. Dry elsewhere with varying amounts of cloud around. Brightest in the southwest.

Have a great day!
Claire
