Unsettled showers with some persistent rain

Good morning,

A wet day today as a low pressure region spirals and hangs around over Britain.

Rain will move east and north across Britain, heavy and persistent in places. The rain will be most prolonged across central, east and northern England. In Wales and the Southwest, early heavy rain will give way to showers. Scotland and Northern Ireland may see some thundery showers.

Winds will be highest across southern Britain, with possible gales around exposed coasts. Northern areas will see lighter winds.

Today's top temperatures will reach 14 to 20C, feeling humid.
