Issued: 0530hrs Friday 7th June 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A wet and very windy day for most with the exception of the far north of Scotland. Winds gusting to gale force or stronger in the southeast.

Good morning,

A wet and very windy start to the day for southwest and south-central England and south Wales. Wind gusts up to 45mph for parts of Dorset, Hampshire, West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. Dry elsewhere but rather cloudy for most. Bright skies for the north of Scotland.

Rain and strong winds will spread north and east through the morning while some heavy showers will develop over western Ireland. Rain reaching across Wales, eastern Ireland and much of England with the exception of the northeast coast by lunchtime.

Through the afternoon rain and strong winds will continue to spread northward reaching southern Scotland by the evening. The heaviest bursts through the afternoon will be for northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Wind gusts will increase for southeastern England reaching up to 60mph in the far southeast.

Through the evening rain will become increasingly patchy for much of England. Heavier rain will persist for Wales and southern and eastern parts of Scotland. Strong winds too continuing for southeastern parts of the UK with gusts up to 65mph for the Kent coast.

Take care out there today!
Claire
