Showers Scotland and Ireland

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 10th June 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A very wet day ahead for parts of England and Wales. Drier for Scotland and Ireland but a chance of thundery showers here.

Good morning,

It's a very wet start to the day for the southeastern half of England with heavy rain for the Midlands, East Anglia, the southeast, south-central and southwestern parts of the country. A few showers affecting Ireland and the east of Scotland too. Elsewhere it will be a dry and mostly bright start to the day.

Through the morning showers will intensify over Ireland and eastern Scotland, some will be thundery in nature, while rain will spread westward into Wales and into northern parts of England too.

Through the afternoon, Scotland and Ireland will continue to see a mixture of sunny spells and thundery showers while rain will continue for Wales and central and southern parts of England. High temperatures widely reaching 13 to 18C, warmest in the west and in East Anglia.

Showers will ease for Scotland and Ireland through the evening though rain will continue for central and southern England. Rain may ease for southeastern England later.

Have a good day!
Claire
