Wet in much of central Europe, fair to the south


Thursday
High pressure lying to the west of Europe maintains dry and very warm conditions across Spain and Portugal, with temperatures again up to 40C in the southwest of Iberia. Dry across the western Mediterranean and much of France, with temperatures up to 30C in the south, aided by a local mistral wind.
Fairly unsettled across central and eastern Europe, where slack low pressure will allow areas of rain and thunderstorms to develop widely through the day, affecting Germany, Alpine regions, Poland, the Balkan states and into eastern countries. Areas around the Black Sea should escape dry and warm. A few showers forming for mainland Greece and Italy, but the Greek islands and Cyprus should be dry.
Drizzly showers are likely for the Low Countries, whilst some heavier showers will affect southern Sweden. A fair amount of dry weather for southern Norway, central Sweden and Finland, but some heavy showers are likely in northern Scandinavia.

Friday
Fair through Spain and Portugal on Friday with long spells of sunshine. Scattered showers in the Balearics, with heavier, thundery showers affecting much of Italy. Greece should be fair with sunshine here. Staying fair in Turkey, more sunshine to come.
Showers in the east of France, but fair in the west with lots of sunshine. Scattered showers through the Low Countries. Further showers in the east and south of Germany, these heavy at times. Drier in northern Germany with sunny spells. Heavy showers in Poland, more persistent rain to the south. Further scattered showers for Hungary, but some thunderstorms in Austria and Switzerland.
Denmark should be fair with sunshine here. More sunshine in Sweden and dry too. The Baltic States will have sunshine and dry weather. Finland should be mostly dry, although an odd shower could affect western areas. Norway will have some showers in the west but should be mostly fair.
