A windy day with outbreaks of rain

A cloudy morning for all with strengthening winds. Outbreaks of rain spread across Scotland into northern England by late morning as well as across Northern Ireland. Patchy rain through Ireland, mainly in the north and west here. Drier elsewhere.

In the afternoon rain clears much of Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland with sunshine developing, although blustery showers continue across western areas. Outbreaks of rain push down through England and Wales, mainly affecting western regions while central and eastern parts stay mostly dry. Windy for all.

Overnight, patchy rain gradually clears away from England and Wales leaving largely dry conditions behind, althugh winds still brisk. Showers pushing in on to west Scotland with longer spells of rain across the far north and Northern Isles.
