Morning Call - January 13, 2019
Wet and windy
Best of any brightness in the east

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 13th January 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

It will be a windy and overcast day for most of us with rain for northwestern areas and northwest-facing coasts and hills

Good morning,

Sunday starts overcast and rather mild for most of us with overnight lows only falling to 6 to 9C across most of the country. It will be wet in the northwest with the heaviest rain falling over western Scotland and northwestern Ireland. Rain will become increasingly light and patchy inland but could reach as far southeast as East Anglia first thing. It will start windy too with gales for the northern half of the British Isles and strong gusts possible anywhere across the country.

Rain will ease through the afternoon becoming confined to northwestern Scotland and the Northern Isles and cloud will break to give some good sunny spells in eastern Scotland and northeastern England. Winds will ease slightly but stay near gale force for western areas. Again, strong gusts will still be possible anywhere. High temperatures will reach 7C in Scotland, 8C in Northern Ireland and 9 to 11C everywhere else.

Rain will continue to affect northwest-facing coasts through Sunday evening but it will be mostly dry elsewhere with some broken cloud. Winds will continue to drop as the evening progresses.

Have a great day!
Claire
