A cold weekend with wintry showers then less cold next week

After a mild few days the weather is set to be turning much colder by Friday and through this weekend. A northerly wind will be setting in bringing the risk of gales but also showers The showers will be wintry at times over the hills as far south as southern England. Becoming less cold through next week although unsettled weather is suggested.

Friday 26/10/18
Low pressure to the east on Friday with high pressure to the west. Cold air sweeps south through all areas together with a cold front clearing the far south of England. The front brings some patchy outbreaks of rain with it. Brighter weather follows behind the front. There will be showers, some heavy and prolonged around western, northern and eastern casts and hills. The showers turning increasing wintry on hills of Scotland and eventually northern England. A significant wind chill. Highs at 6C in northern Scotland, 11C in southern England.


Saturday 27/10/18
Low pressure stays east with high pressure to the west. Cold for all in a strong northerly flow. Further showers around western, northern and eastern coasts, these falling as sleet and snow on the hills. Away fro these areas the day will be dry with sunny spells throughout. Little change during the day. Highs at 5 to 7C.

 


Sunday 28/10/18
Another cold day although the winds should be easing. Some showers merging to longer spells of rain in eastern England and eastern Scotland. Drier and brighter to the west of good spells of sunshine. A few showers in western Wales and Cornwalls as well as eastern parts of Ireland. Highs at 7 to 10C.
 


Monday 29/10/18
Low pressure affects the south of the UK on Monday. The risk of rain in eastern England and eastern Scotland with drier weather to the west. A further area of rain affecting Ireland. Highs at 8 to 12C.


Tuesday 30/10/18
Low pressure across the UK and Ireland on Tuesday. There will be cloud and rain in southern Ireland and the far south of the UK and Ireland. A further area of rain in eastern Scotland. Drier for more western parts. Highs at 10 to 13C.

Wednesday 31/10/18
Low pressure brings rain across southern Ireland, Wales and England together with a brisk southeast wind. Drier in Scotland with sunny spells in the north and west. Temperatures at 12 to 15C.
