Rain in far south

Issued: 0530hrs Thursday 23rd November 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Turning colder, snow in Scotland and some rain in southern England

Good morning,

Some rain in the southeast at first this morning, but indications are that this should be clearing fairly swiftly. Brighter and drier weather follows to the north and west and it will be turning cooler through the day too.

Showers will be affecting northwest England and Ireland, falling increasingly as snow on the highest hills in the afternoon. Cloud and rain affecting central and northern Scotland, this turning to snow even at lower levels. Dry elsewhere but colder with some sunny spells. Breezy in Scotland throughout the day and feeling especially cold in the wind.

By this evening there is a risk of some more persistent rain affecting southern areas of England, some of this heavy.
