Morning Call - December 04, 2020
Unsettled
Cold

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 4th December 2020
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Another unsettled day as bands of rain, sleet and snow circulate around an area of low pressure centred over England and Wales. Most of the snow falling over higher ground but some making it to lower levels in the north. Staying cold.

Good Morning,

Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow sweep from east to west across the north of England and Scotland then into Northern Ireland throughout the morning. Most of the snow will fall over higher ground in the east of Scotland and northeast of England but some will make it to lower levels for a time. Further south, another area of rain, sleet and snow moves from west to east across Wales and England. Again, most of the snow will be confined to higher ground. A mostly dry and bright morning for Ireland though a few showers may affect the far west where winds may reach gale force.

One area of wintry precipitation clears western Scotland through the afternoon while another area of rain spreads in from the south across southern and central Scotland. Rain and sleet accompanied by very strong winds also spread south from Northern Ireland across Ireland and across the Irish Sea into Wales and western England. Again, this will readily turn to snow over higher ground in Wales and in the northwest of England. Staying mostly dry but cloudy for southern and eastern parts of England.

Further outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow affect northern and western parts of the British Isles into Friday evening and it will stay very windy with coastal gales here. Staying drier but still rather cloudy over northern, eastern and southern parts of England.

Have a good day!

Claire
