Thundery showers and rain in the south, dry to the north

Thundery showers and outbreaks of thundery rain in southern England, Wales and eastern Ireland. Becoming very warm in the sunshine too in the south. Drier in Scotland and Northern Ireland as well as the far north of England with sunny spells. Details are tricky to pin down and so forecast confidence across southern areas of the UK and Ireland is best considered low.

Sunday 27/5/18
High pressure stays to the north on Sunday with low pressure to the south. Thundery showers extending through southern and central England, Wales and eastern Ireland. There could be some heavy and more persistent rain too. More scattered thundery showers in southeast England with some cloud and outbreaks of rain affecting eastern and central Ireland. Dry for Scotland and most of northern England and Northern Ireland, although low cloud on eastern coasts. A brisk east wind too in northern and eastern England. Highs at 26C in the southeast in any sunshine, 17C over eastern coasts of Scotland and England especially in low cloud, 21C in western Scotland and Ireland


Holiday Monday 28/5/18
High pressure stays to the northeast on Monday with low pressure to the south. The easterly flow brings thundery showers or longer outbreaks of rain to southern Ireland, south Wales and southern England. Rather cloudy for much of the rest of England with low cloud on eastern coasts. Plenty of sunshine in Scotland with sunny spells in western Ireland together with a few showers here. Highs at 21 to 24C but cooler on eastern coasts.


Tuesday 29/5/18
Low pressure to the south on Tuesday. This brings cloud and some thundery outbreaks of rain in southern England, Wales and southern Ireland. Drier in northern England and Scotland with some bright or sunny spells. ow cloud on eastern coasts. Highs at 20 to 24C, 17C on eastern coasts.
 


Wednesday 30/5/18
Pressure stays low over the south of the country through Wednesday. There will be broken cloud and some sunny spells but also some spots of rain or drizzle on hills. The risk of thundery rain in Ireland. Highs at 22 to 25C in the brighter areas, 17C on eastern coasts.


Thursday 31/5/18
Lower pressure over the south on Thursday with higher pressure to the north. There are likely to be some outbreaks of rain, again this thundery in the south and west. Drier in Scotland overal, although the risk of showers in the south. Highs at 18 to 24C.

Friday 1/6/18
June looks set to start with a slack pressure flow. This may give some thundery bursts of rain, mostly in the west and south. Highs at 19 to 25C.
