A mixed week of weather ahead with sunny spells, showers and rain at times

The weather turns colder next week as the winds become more north to northwesterly. There will be showers, some of them heavy, especially in the north and east. The chilliest of the weather in northern Scotland. Little changes through the week with Wednesday and Thursday probably the most unsettled days.

Tuesday 28/05/19
A northwest to northerly flow on Tuesday. A mix of sunny spells and showers, some of them heavy at times across eastern parts of England nad southwest Scotland. Generally brighter in the west; cloudier to the north. Highs at a cold 9 to 11C in northern Scotland, 17 to 18C in southeast England. More widely highs at 13 to 16C.

Wednesday 29/05/19
Pressure is low on Wednesday. Rain affecting the northern half of the island of Ireland and, later, much of Scotland and northern England. Cloud building over central and southern England and Wales through the day but staying mostly dry here. Another chilly day at 9 to 12C in the north and west, 13 to 17C in the south and east.
 

Thursday 30/05/19
Sunny spells and showers again with a northwest flow affecting the UK and Ireland. The heaviest showers affecting Ireland, Wales and England. Brighter for Scotland and Northern Ireland with a few isolated showers. Highs at 10 to 13C in Scotland and Northern Ireland, 15 to 18C in England, Ireland and Wales.
 

Friday 31/05/19
Northwest winds bring a day of sunny spells and scattered showers, again with these mainly in the north and west. Better east and south. High temperatures at 12C in northern Scotland, 19C in southern England.

Saturday 01/06/19
Rain for Scotland and Northern Ireland at first but clearing to leave a mixture of sunshine and showers. Drier and brighter in the south and east. High temperatures at 14 to 22C.

Sunday 02/06/19
Low pressure to the north brings showers and patchy rain to northern areas. Cloudy but dry in the southern half of the country. High temperatures at 13 to 24C.
