A mixed week of weather ahead with sunny spells and scattered showers at times

The weather turns colder next week as the winds become more north to northwesterly. There will be showers, some of them heavy, especially in the north and east. The chilliest of the weather in northern Scotland. Little changes through the week with Wednesday and Thursday probably the most unsettled days.

Monday 27/05/19
Low pressure dominates into Monday with fronts pushing south. The fronts give showers, some heavy especially in northern England, Wales and Ireland. Showers may merge into more persistent rain across Scotland with the risk of some wintry conditions over the highest peaks of the Scottish mountains. Breezy and cold at 9 to 10C in northeast Scotland, more widely at 11 to 15C, milder in the southeast of England at 17 to 19C.

Tuesday 28/05/19
A northwest to northeasterly flow on Tuesday. A mix of sunny spells and showers, some of them heavy at times across eastern parts of England. Generally brighter in the west. Highs at a cold 10 to 12C in Scotland and Northern Ireland, 13 to 17C in England, Ireland and Wales.
 

Wednesday 29/05/19
Pressure stays low on Wednesday. Further periods of showers and rain affecting many areas, some of them heavy for Ireland. Generally drier in Wales and the southwest. Another chilly day at 9C in northern Scotland, 15C in southern England.

 
 
 

Thursday 30/05/19
Sunny spells and showers again with a northwest flow affecting the UK and Ireland. The heaviest showers affecting Ireland, Wales and England. Brighter for Scotland and Northern Ireland with a few isolated showers. Highs at 10C in northern Scotland, 17C in southern England.

Friday 31/05/19
Northwest winds bring a day of sunny spells and scattered showers, again with these mainly in the north and east. Better west and south. High temperatures at 11C in northern Scotland, 17C in southern England.

Saturday 01/06/19
High pressure briefly builds on Saturday bringing a mostly dry day. Brightest in the east with a chance of showers later. Cloudy in the west. High temperatures at 12 to 17C.
