Fair in the east with good spells of sunshine, rain to the west

Good morning,

It's a sunny start to the day in much of the UK this morning. There will continue to be good spells of sunshine throughout the day in eastern England, although cloud tending to increase from the west. Windy in western parts of the UK and the whole of Ireland too. A band of rain passing slowly east through Ireland, some of it heavy this morning. The rain then reaches the far west of Scotland and southwest England by lunchtime, before slipping further east into Wales, northwest England and southwest England during the late afternoon and evening.

That rain band continues eastwards through Scotland, England and Wales tonight, a few heavier bursts in northern England and Scotland. Drier to the west, although a few showers in the southwest.
