Morning Call - April 04, 2018
Slow moving downpours
Snow Scottish hills

Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 4th April 2018
Duty forecaster: Garry Nicholson

Hail and thunder possible

Good morning,

A broad area of low pressure is parked across central England and Wales today, bringing heavy showers or constant rain to some areas.

Snow affects the hills of Scotland, lasting most of the day in the southern and eastern Highlands - snow falling to quite low levels, probably above 200-300m. Persistent rain for north-west England for several hours.

Eastern England may escape mainly dry in the morning, but clusters of slow-moving showers will break out increasingly for most of England and Wales, drifting slowly west to east, and by afternoon setting in to give heavy rain for a few hours locally. Risk of hail and thunder.

Strong north to north-easterly winds for Scotland and Ireland. South to southwesterlies for southern England. Winds very light in central regions.

Today's top temperatures will range from 5C in northern Scotland, to 8C in north-west England & Wales, up to 11 or 12C in the Midlands, south & east.

Have a great day.
Garry
