Morning Call - May 04, 2019
Showers in the north and east
Dry and bright southwest

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 4th May 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

Some showers will affect northern and eastern areas through today, some of which may bring hail and thunder. Best of the sun in the southwest.

Good morning,

A chilly but bright start to the weekend for many. Clear skies overnight will have allowed temperatures to drop and a ground frost is possible, particularly in the west, first thing. There may be a few wintry showers over the north of Scotland and further showers affecting eastern coastal areas of southern Scotland and England. Mostly dry and bright with some good spells of sunshine everywhere else.

Through the morning the showers over Scotland will edge southward leaving drier and brighter conditions behind while the showers over eastern England will spread further inland reaching into southern Yorkshire and parts of the Midlands by lunchtime. Through the afternoon these showers will spread into East Anglia, the Home Counties and the southeast while a few showers may also flare up over the West Midlands. Some of these may be thundery in nature with hail. Staying mostly dry elsewhere with high temperatures reaching just 6 or 7C in the north of Scotland, but more widely at 8 to 11C. Best of the brightness in the southwest.

Most of the showers should clear through the evening though one or two may linger over eastern coastal parts of England.

Don't forget your brolly!
Claire
