Gale force to severe gales in the north and northeast

Particularly windy and gusty across the north and northeast through the morning. Outbreaks of rain across Scotland becoming patchy while moving into Northern Ireland and northern England with brighter weather to follow. Cloudy but dry further south.

In the afternoon, brighter weather gradually comes about from the north. Patchy rain eventually clearing the south later. Staying windy for all though easing.

Overnight, clear spells for many allowing for frost to develop widely and ice further north. Some sleet and snow showers affecting northern Scotland though mainly dry elsewhere.
