Rain in central and southern England, drier to the north
Contrasting temperatures across the UK and Ireland today. The far south is going to be very milder, whereas all other areas will be feeling chilly with colder air arriving in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Cloud and patchy rain in central and southern areas may become heavy for a time along southern coasts. Some sunshine in northern England, Scotland and Ireland, a few showers in the north and west.
This afternoon sees more rain through southern counties of England and again this may be heavy in places for a time. Cloudier in the Midlands and Wales as well as Ireland. Some clearer spells in Scotland and Northern Ireland, sunny spells here too. A few showers in northern and western Scotland again.
Overnight more persistent rain across England and Wales as well as southern Ireland. Drier to the north. Snow showers in northern Scotland. Frosty in central Scotland.
