Morning Call - December 08, 2020
Rain sinking south
Snow over higher ground

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 8th December 2020
Duty forecaster: Alexi Venerus

Rain, initially in the north, will gradually sink south into England. Strengthening, mainly coastal, winds in the north.

In the morning, expect cloud and outbreaks of rain across much of Scotland although the rain will become confined to more coastal areas and the Borders allowing for drier conditions to develop elsewhere with some sunny intervals trying to develop. Winds will also strengthen towards coasts. Rain pushing into northern England, turning heavy towards midday, and Northern Ireland. Showers through Wales, some merging into longer spells of rain. Sunshine and showers across southwest and southeast England. Largely dry elsewhere.

During the afternoon, rain bands sinking slightly more south so rain pushing into north Wales, central areas of England while clearing southern Scotland but pushing into central Scotland more. Rain still across Northern Ireland. Showers continuing across southwest England but clearing from southeastern areas with sunny spells developing. Largely dry elsewhere.

Overnight, rain across central areas of England and Wales will continue for a time before clearing here. Rain continuing to affect western areas of Scotland and eastern coasts but largely dry over central areas. The southwest of England could also continue seeing outbreaks of rain throughout the night. Elsewhere, it should be dry with clear spells developing in the far west, particularly later on.
