Showery rain in northern England, fine in Scotland, cloudy in southern England

A fair amount of cloud and some mist and fog patches in central and southern parts of England this morning. This is likely to be lifting with a few bright spells developing in part of the Midlands, Wales and southwest England. A band of showery rain affects the far east of Ireland as well as northern England. Brighter weather for the rest of Ireland and Scotland, some showers in the north and west.

This afternoon sees a fair amount of cloud remaining in central and southern areas. More showery rain in northern England, the Midlands, Wales and creeping into the west of Cornwall. Stull brighter, cooler and drier for Ireland and Scotland with some good spells of sunshine. A few showers in northwest Scotland.

Overnight the showery rain clears south. Clearer skies follow for all. A few showers in eastern Ireland and oin the far northern and west of Scotland where they may be wintry. A frost forming under the clear skies, mostly in Wales, northern England, Scotland and Ireland.
