Another chilly start to the morning across most of the UK and Ireland. There will be showers affecting many western areas although these not as frequent as on Tuesday. The showers will be wintry over hills but an odd one could fall as sleet or snow at low levels too. Isolated showers may affect central and eastern areas but overall these places should be dry with some good spells of sunshine. Breezy with highs at 4 to 8C.

Wednesday Night
Wintry showers continue tonight in northern and western Scotland, a few may affect western coast of England and Ireland. Mostly dry elsewhere to start the night but thickening cloud across southern Ireland, Wales and Southwest England will bring rain to these areas. There is then much uncertainty as to how the rain progresses through the rest of the night. At the present time it is expected that rain may turn to sleet and snow for parts of Wales and the southern Midlands as it spreads eastwards later in the night. Some heavy rain may affect southern England. Lows near 0 to 3C.

Thursday
Uncertainty in the forecast for southern England and Wales on Thursday centres around an area of low pressure which may bring rain, sleet and snow to an area south of Manchester especially during the morning. This could be heavy at times before clearing into the afternoon. Feeling cold. Brighter with some wintry showers in northern and western Scotland, a few of them heavy. The shower is also affecting western Ireland. Eastern Ireland and eastern Scotland should be drier and brighter. Highs around 4 to 8C.

Friday
A ridge of high-pressure brings a drier and cool morning on Friday. Cloud will be increasing from the west but most areas should be dry. Some patchy rain arriving in western parts of Wales, England and eventually Scotland in the late morning and afternoon, distance spreading eastwards during the day. Increasingly misty and murky around coast and hills. Highs at 5 to 8C.
