Morning Call - April 17, 2018
Rain in west
Best in southeast

Issued: 0530hrs Tuesday 17th April 2018
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Western rain turning lighter and more patchy through today, showers in Ireland and Scotland, best in the southeast

Good morning,

A front is moving into the west of the UK this morning bringing some heavy bursts of rain to the slopes of southwest Scotland, parts of Cumbria and west Wales. A drier start in central, southern and eastern England. Drier and windy too in Ireland and the west and north of Scotland with rain already clearing east.

This afternoon sees the rain easing in the west as the front edges ever slowly eastwards bringing a damp day to northwest England, much of Wales and the far southwest of England. Ireland is likely to become drier and brighter in the morning with similar weather in central and western Scotland. There are likely to be some heavy showers forming in the afternoon, these perhaps thundery.

Central and eastern areas should be drier with sunny spells here, the best in the east. It is these areas that will be feeling warmest.
