High rainfall totals expected for some

A wet morning with outbreaks of rain across much of the country, although a drier start for much of Ireland, though eastern counties seeing rain for a time, and perhaps southwest England. Persistent and heavy rain is expected across northwest England, west Wales and southwest Scotland.

Rain largely clears England and Wales as we head into the afternoon, although showery rain is forecast to push into west Wales and southwest England. Rain gradually clears southwestern regions of Scotland but will continue across central and northeastern regions, heavy at times. More rain pushes northwards across Ireland.

More rain will progressively push in across western parts of England, Wales and southern Scotland through the evening and overnight, while clearing northern Scotland. Largely dry through eastern English counties. Largely dry conditions through Northern Ireland and Ireland though showers in the west here.
