Wet weather for all; turning drier, sunnier and warmer

Becoming more unsettled in the coming days as areas of low pressure cross over or close to the UK and Ireland. Thse bring bands of rain with them, some of it heavy. By the end of the weekend and into next week higher pressure builds east of the country allowing for temperatures to rise. Fronts over Ireland and western Scotland may bringing some rain here. Uncertainty in conditions into the middle of next week.

Sunday 21/07/19
A ridge of high pressure affects southern and eastern parts of the country on Sunday. This brings spells of sunshine, warm temperatures and dry weather for many. Thicker cloud and some rain affecting Ireland and western Scotland, stronger winds here too. Highs widely at 19 to 25C, 26 or 27C in the southeast of England.


Monday 22/07/19
High pressure stays east of the UK on Monday with low pressure west of Ireland. Very warm with good spells of sunshine across much of England, Wales and Scotland. Thicker cloud and some rain in the far west of Scotland and Ireland. Highs widely at 20 to 26C, 28 or 29C possible in the far southeast.
 


Tuesday 23/07/19
Low pressure west of Ireland again on Tuesday with high pressure to the east. Rain in Ireland and Scotland, some of it heavy in the west. Much of England and Wales should be dry, although there is a risk of some thundery showers developing in the west later. Highs at 29C, or possible higher, in southeast England, more widely 18 to 27C in western areas.
 


Wednesday 24/07/19
Lower pressure to the west on Wednesday with higher pressure to the east. There is likely to be some rain in Ireland and Scotland. Scattered showers in northern and western England and Wales, but perhaps drier and brighter in eastern and southern England. Highs at just 17 or 18C in western Ireland, widely at 20 to 28C across the UK.


Thursday 25/07/19
A trough of low pressure could develop across the UK on Thursday bringing heavy showers and outbreaks of rain to an area extending from the southeast of England to the northwest of Scotland. Drier and brighter to the southwest and northeast. Highs at 17 to 20C for Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales; 22 to 28C across central and southeastern England.

Friday 26/07/19
The trough may persist through Friday bringing heavy, sometimes thundery, showers to southeastern and eastern parts of the UK. Drier for Ireland and the southwest UK. High temperatures at 15 to 21C.
