A quiet day but then wind and rain in west later and gales tonight
Not a bad start to this morning for most areas. There will be some cloud and it will be breezy. The cloud breaks with some bright or sunny spells developing, best of them in the east. A thickening of the cloud in Ireland with the winds increasing here and some rain in the west by lunchtime.
This afternoon sees the cloud increasing through much of the north and west of the UK. Rain spills across the whole of Ireland, becoming heavy at times and being accompanied by gale force winds. Some spots of rain in western Wales and western England by evening but staying dry in the east.
Overnight it becomes wet with rain passing through all areas. Windy too with gales in the west and south. Rain may be heavy and thundery although turning drier in the west through the early hours as rain clears eastwards.
