Morning Call - May 26, 2019
Rain & showers at first
Brighter for many later

Issued: 0530hrs Sunday 26th May 2019
Duty forecaster: Claire Darbinyan

A wet start to the day for many areas with rain and showers around. Brightening later for many away from northern Scotland.

Good morning,

A chilly start for northern Scotland, mild elsewhere with temperatures generally staying in double digits overnight from Saturday into Sunday. It will be a wet start too with rain for much of mainland Scotland, eastern parts of Ireland, northwest England and north Wales. Showers affecting much of Ireland too.

Through the morning rain will clear from Ireland and southwest Scotland though a few scattered showers will linger here. Some heavy showers will affect western parts of England and Wales while a cold front will bring light, patchy rain to southeastern England.

Rain will continue for northeastern Scotland through Sunday afternoon while rain will intensify along the cold front over southeast England bringing some heavier bursts here through the afternoon. It should brighten elsewhere to give some good sunny spells with just the odd isolated shower. High temperatures widely reaching 12 to 19C but being pegged back to just 8 to 10C in the north of Scotland. Some spots in the southeast of England could see highs just in the twenties.

Rain will clear southeastern England through the evening but will continue over northern Scotland. A few showers will develop over western parts of Ireland.

Don't forget your brolly if you're out and about today!
Claire
