Largely dry though showers in the west
A cold start in places, particularly across England and Wales, with more cloud across Scotland keeping temperatures higher here. A largely dry and somewhat cloudy morning but showers will affect many western coasts.
During the afternoon sunnier spells develop across eastern regions of Scotland and England. Showery rain still affecting western Scotland. One or two showers elsewhere down wstern coasts but these should have mostly eased off.
Heavier rain pushes into western areas of Scotland later on Friday evening, accompanied by a strengthening wind, but remaining fairly dry elsewhere. Variable amounts of cloud for England and Wales but a reasonably mild night in prospect.
