Turning drier and sunnier into next week; temperatures warming up too

By the end of the weekend and into next week higher pressure builds east of the country bringing drier and more settled conditions for a times and allowing for temperatures to rise. Fronts over Ireland and western Scotland may bringing some rain here. Conditions look to be turning more unsettled once more from mid-week.

Tuesday 23/07/19
Low pressure is to the west of Ireland on Tuesday with high pressure to the east. Much of the UK and Ireland should see a bright, warm and dry day. Far western and northern parts of Scotland and Ireland may occasionally see some light rain as fronts graze these areas. Cloudier here too. Through the evening, heavy, thundery showers may develop over southwestern parts of the UK. Highs at 30C, or possible higher, in southeast England, more widely 21 to 29C.


Wednesday 24/07/19
Thundery showers affecting parts of the UK overnight should clear to the north through the morning. Lower pressure stays to the west on Wednesday with higher pressure to the east. A cloudier day across the British Isles with scattered showers across Ireland, Scotland and the north of England through the afternoon. A drier and brighter day for central and southern England and Wales. Highs widely at 20 to 27C, 28 to 30C in the far southeast.


Thursday 25/07/19
An area of low pressure centred to the west of Ireland on Thursday brings heavy, sometimes thundery, showers and outbreaks of rain across much of the UK and Ireland. Drier and brighter conditions follow to the west through the evening for Ireland. Highs at 19 to 25C for Ireland, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales; 26 to 31C across central and eastern England.
 


Friday 26/07/19
A trough over the UK on Friday brings heavy, sometimes thundery, showers mainly focussed over eastern parts of Ireland and northern and western parts of the UK. Drier and brighter for southern and southeastern England. Brightening through the evening for most. High temperatures at 17 to 24C.


Saturday 27/07/19
A westerly flow on Saturday brings a mostly bright day with outbreaks of showers at times. These mainly focussed over Ireland and eastern parts of England and Scotland. High temperatures ranging from 15 to 24C.

Sunday 28/07/19
A small area of low pressure may develop early on Sunday bringing heavy outbreaks of rain to Scotland first thing. This clears to leave a bright day across the British Isles with a few scattered showers. High temperatures at 16 to 23C.
